We asked ourselves questions such as<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><strong>Which borough of London is the happiest?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><strong>Where are the city\u2019s tweeting hot spots? \u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><strong>How many animals does the fire brigade save each year?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><strong>Which London residents have left their mark on history?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><strong>Where are London\u2019s most haunted houses (and pubs)?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><em><strong>What makes London the information capital?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">and sought to answer them through data visualisation. The book contains over 100 full-colour spreads alongside some brief essays to introduce each of the 5 broad themes \u2013 <em>Where we are<\/em>, <em>Who we are<\/em>,<em> Where we go<\/em>, <em>How we\u2019re doing<\/em> and <em>What we like<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Oliver Uberti and I worked closely with our publisher Particular Books (part of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.penguin.co.uk\/\">Penguin<\/a>) to create a book that was a beautiful as it could be. Inside you\u2019ll find some graphics with transparent overlays for before\/ after comparisons, binding that minimises the impact of the centre fold and page dimensions tailored to the shape of London. All this showcases everything from\u00a0watercolours of London\u2019s protected vistas, 24 hours of shipping in the Thames Estuary and London\u2019s data DNA.
